Television personality Dagmar (born Virginia Ruth Egnor, a.k.a.Jeanne Lewis ) holds the starter's pistol, and the riders are lined-up and waiting for her to pull the trigger. The riders, from the railing down: Irv Pesek (#13 - being held by Canadian racer "Smokey" Joe Demayer), Bill Jacobs (#1 - held by fellow Chicago racer Berg Brummer), Heinz Zoll of Germany (in light jersey). The man in the grey suit with dark tie is A.B.L.A. state rep John Mesch, acting as race official.

The race was won by Dutch riders Post and Smits (no first names supplied)., with Pesek and teammate Ted Ernst in 2nd.

You might remember Dagmar "The Texaco Star Theatre" with Milton Berle.

Thanks to Ted Ernst for the photo.

Okay, that's enough of these "modern" pictures for now... Tomorrow we switch back to sepiatone!
