Campionato del Mundos at 100 lbs vs Clement Criterium cottons at 110 lbs...the CdM seems faster to me. And a much plusher ride, imho.
Now, a good 30-year-old Criterium seta at 120 lbs is a thing of beauty: comfortable AND fast..and, of course, a Paris-Roubaix seta at 100 lbs is the ultimate, imho.. I wish like anything someone would make the Criterium Seta extra road again, at the same quality of the early ones..that was a tire to die for.
Rivendell Roly-Polys at 100-105 lbs feel quite fast. Comparable to any CdM..heavier, but plushier ride, too.
There are more variables to be considered than fat or skinny, higher or lower pressure.
I can't wait to try some nice 650b touring tires at lower pressures. I hear they're really fine..

that's the puzzle of what has happened to the automobile world: feeling safe has become more important than actually being safe.
