Perhaps he was talking about another Merlin, such as one shown below from the Used Bike Buyers Guide. I believe the off-topic Merlin Titanium company didn't start until 1986, so if he had a Merlin from before 83, it wasn't by the boys in Mass. On the other hand, I don't know when the Merlin shop in London stopped making frames named Merlin. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL

Is Merlin considered KoF?

I think the agreed upon definition of a Keeper of the Flame would be lugged steel frame construction.
