Mark, Merlin's were originally in London Bob Jackson purchased the name and stock etc. This was sometime in the 50's so after about 1956 JRJ, Merlin and Bob Jackson's were all from the same stable. Think when Merlins sold out it was a condition of sale that the name carried on. There are certainly some 80's Merlin track frames a fellow called Mike White who lives just up the road from me rides one. My Father-in-Law and his mates use to call Selbach's, Merlin's and Saxon the Holy Trinity, they were the really big London market leaders in lightweights in the 1920's. Evans, Carpenter and a whole host of others were also making in London but these three were the ones to have. Best wishes Mick butler Hunts UK
