Does anyone know anything about Chiorda serial numbers? I finally found the serial number on the frame on my Chiorda. It is immediately beneath the seat cluster on the forward curvature of the seat tube. The number is: 01092.
My Chiorda is the one with the dubiously low end Valentino G.S. derailleur, and the wonderful chrome steering tube lugs. Folks identified it as being anywhere between a low end bike boom cheapy to a mid range model from late 60s to mid 70s.
Judging from the responses, Chiorda seems to be the Rodney Dangerfield of Italian road bikes. And yet there is something that I rather like about this bike. I mean what other brand painted all of the frame red except for about the middle six inches of the top tube, which it chromed and then put some colorful transfers on that chrome that allowed the chrome to show through, and then popped for stylish chrome head lugs? Italvega did the trick on the seat tube, but I haven't seen it done on the top tube before. That took a little chutzpah. The fellas from Bergamo at least had a little fun when they were slumming.
