I've come to the conclusion that heavy chainstays aren't really necessary because of the perfect trianglulation in the back of a bike. I used to do the heavy stays until I did one with light stays and it felt just as steady. Touring bikes are a different story but for anything up to randoneur/audax I think normal stays are just fine. Phil Brown The light CS felt fine today in San Rafael, Calif.
