Jeff, Grandis frames are apparently not widely known (at least in this country) but in my opinion they deserve attention. The examples I have seen and ridden compare very favorably with the best from Italy. I don't know if they were available elsewhere in the U.S. in the 1970's but a friend of mine used to sell them in the Miami area at that time. Your frame sounds similar to mine however on mine there are "g's" cut out in the sides of the head lugs as well and the top of the seat stays each have 5 holes cut in them which do not go all the way through (similar to the mid to late 1970's Italian Masis with the kind of elongated H pattern cut out). The stays are not capped but instead have cupped pieces of tubing brazed in and this makes for a very nice presentation. All of the lugs are elegant well filed long points with cut outs with a kind of three petal flower motif and the sides of the rear dropouts are milled out. Unlike your frame mine does not have brazed on top tube cable guides nor a front derailleur braze on. I also have more famous early 1970's Pogliaghis, Masis, Cinellis, Colnagos and De Rosas to compare against but my Grandis is invariably one of my favorites to ride and tends to see the most miles.

I recently purchased a Grandis frameset. I'm wondering if anyone has any information, insights, or comments on Grandis.

It has a chromed chainstay and chromed rear campy dropouts, chromed cast fork crown with "G" cast on either side, braze on front der. mounting bracket, braze ons for the rear brake cable, two sets of water bottle braze on fittings - one set on the seat tube and one set on the down tube, columbus sl tubing, and recessed brake caliper mounting bolts.

It seems like a very nicely made, high quality frame with pretty pearl blue paint. It is extremelly light (1,870 grams). There is not much on the CR website. Any help would be appreciated.
