Oh - that's different, I assumed it was just a "copy/edit" listing error. You listed these levers incorrectly - though apparently not intentionally - sorry. They may have been contemporary with the flat-q/r calipers that you sold simultaneously with these levers, but they are not early levers. The brake levers changed before the calipers switched to the domed q/r mechanism. Illustrations in catalogs mean almost nothing, unfortunately, when it comes to the small details of old Campagnolo parts. The artwork was carried over many times to newer catalogs, even though the parts didn't look like that any more. Remember, this was in pre-computer graphics days.

Greg; I've already sent my comments to the CR much earlier. It was addressed to Wayne, and the CR. It explains where the levers came from, and why they were listed as first generation, which I'm believing they are. They look to me like the illustration in the catalogue on the site. I've said enough and need not comment any further, except to say that in all honesty I thought these were listed properly, and that I did the neccesary documentation before listing. Please read my first letter. I've got other things to do beside commenting on the letter and Campag levers.

Instead of beating this thing to death, how about we ask Peter to comment? Peter?

This doesn't make sense to me. Early NR levers had the pointy "long reach" only, until they changed the style in about 1974, 75 or 76, right? Why would the earliest SR levers be any different? I have a couple of sets of the early SR levers (pointy tip, pre-pressed holes, and "U" shaped cable relief) and can take pics if anyone wants to see them. Seems to me that the newer fat tip of all Campy brake levers came about with the change to the machinery, and stayed that way for the duration. Any reason to doubt this? I cannot see how the levers recently sold on Ebay can be "old", when they clearly have the newer tip. Now if you told me that they were NR levers that were modified to be like SR ... THAT I would believe.

I've been corrected by another list member concering these levers. As I look more closely at the pics it seems clear the holes were not punched in flat metal, then stretched when the levers were shaped..rather, the holes appear to be drilled and countersunk.

So, then, they are early levers and the hoods are later replacements. I just assumed the hoods were original, given the shape of the levers...I'm told the levers were available in both long and short reach... what do others say?
