Subject: [CR]Condor serial number (yes I did check the archives) - anyone? (Duncan Granger)

Hi all,

My Condor Italia track frame arrived a few days ago. I am trying to date it.

Serial number is V5471. According to the archives, the "V" could indicate it was built by Vic Edwards, who did some work for Condor. All the serial numbers that come up in a search of the CR archives start with the last two digits of the year. I am almost certain that my frame is later than '54. Actually, I'm inclined to think '71 makes sense, but don't know if anyone else has a Condor with a serial number in this format.

I have sent an email to the current Condor shop, but have not yet heard anything.

It has full wrapover seatstays. The seat post binder bolt fits inside the ear, and there is no nut - instead the left side ear is threaded internally. Big, beefy typical campy track dropouts front and rear. Steel campy headset, but that may not be original.

So, does that serial number format look familiar to anyone? I'd like to nail down the date before I build her up, so that I know the components I choose will be appropriate...

TIA,

Duncan Granger
