Peaople who know me know I like Gitanes, my first real decent bike was a Gitane I got from a Belgian exchange student (sadly, no photos remain) heck it wasn't until 2 years ago that I bought my first PX10, and off the top of my head I cannot recall much else of French origin I'd ever had interest in owning, apart from a UO8 stolen from me in 1972 (well, there IS a LeJeune.)
Anyways, about the new Gitane site...f.w.i.w. I think it shows as much promise as any transcription of sales brochures can provide...and the additional investigative tidbits are equally interesting. Not necessarily ironclad fact, perhaps, but certainly (and to the owner's credit) absent the sense of dogma so easily attributed to affectionados of another "notable-in-the-U.S." French marque.
