This is the only solution that I know of. By happenstance, one of the Mavic tools is up on ebay right now at:
I got mine off of ebay a while ago for a good deal less than the $70 buy it now, but I don't know if they are going for more these days.
Trolling ebay for a while will also likely turn up a Mavic BB if you want to go with something older than a new stronglight. Might even be able to find it cheaper, too. XXcycle.com lists the JP1000 for 60 Euros.
