Substitute "rarely" for the overstated and redundant "never, ever" and you'll be correct.

Bear in mind also that a pro-quality bike could often be purchased with "factory spec" make and model components and still allow for custom: crank and stem length, bar width and bend, # of spokes, FW and chainring teeth, etc. A serious rider is ineed unlikely to just accept whatever crankset is thrown his way, but he is not unlikely to accept it provided that it is the correct size. Many serious riders don't kid themselves that a Record arm was significantly different from any other top model as long as the length is right.
