A "Flute" is when you blow your nose without a hankie,
typical cyclists fashion, right forefinger tight on
one nostril so that you can blow the other one out.
It's called a flute because if it all goes wrong the
other four fingers get covered in phlegm and you have
to span them to try and flick it off in the wind,
that's when it looks like the pipes of pan hence
flute.
Really commonly used down here even in the early
1960's.
Raleigh Bike is rhyming slang but I don't want to go
there.
