My guess is Jan's quote is taken somewhat out of context.

C.A.R. existed pre-war as well and made the annualar bearing hubs that eventually became Maxi-Car. The C.A.R. hubs were superior to the MAXI hubs. C.A.R hubs would have been the preffered hubs on pre-war trials bikes such as Reyhand. C.A.R. also produced an annualar bearing bottom bracket. These items were on display (attached to Reyhand bikes) at the last Cirque.
