As a matter of fact, some of Indians earliest motorized bikes were used for motor pacing of bicycles.According to historian Harry Sucher, one of the founders of Indian, George M. Hendee, won the National Amateur High wheel Championship of the U.S. in 1886. He turned pro in 1892 to compete on safety bicycles, and retired from racing in 1895.
