We who were up front clinging to his Turbo could enjoy the hot soup he brought and a nice steady tow... what a great way to take in the scenery! When I was reluctant to bring my mittens and parka, he said "Bring those. I'm going good right now and I don't want you getting cold behind my Vitus Carbone today." Anyway I think the mix-up was when Chuck saw a couple of coyotes climbing the hillside, saying "Hang on guys. I'll gonna head 'em off in another couple switchbacks and we'll get a closer look at 'em." That guy's a freight train folks!

Most inspiring on the ride (beside the mountain views) was Jack on his twenty-four and a half pound, late 50s Celeste, Bianchi mod. Tour de France with 49/46 chainrings and 14x22 cogs. He kept that 46x22 churning up Glendora and over to Baldy just fine, thank you! Damn!

Here's me trying to keep the soup warm on my Vitus Carbone 7 with tout Mahveeek (completely French except for the DT spokes): http://velo-retro.com/12-05-baldyride_12.jpg
