I've seen early Dura-Ace more than once with French threading. Don't think I've ever checked the pedal threading on Sigino Mightys on early 70's Gitane TdF's, but It doesn't surprises me they would be French thread.

I believe that's the case, at least for the early ones. I've got an almost-new, green '72 TDF, 54cm, here that uses that Mity crank with alloy french pedals. A quick check with a Shimano SPD pedal here, -- won't go even 1/2 of a turn in w/o force! That's tighter than a French Stronglight crankarm, by far.

Too small for me, I'll be selling this bike soon and might do an Ebay outing when I've dusted it off.
