Well I was the one left trying to cram it down the chimney, but Christmas Eve marked the completion of my latest project:

1981 Peugeot PXN-10E

Photos in my Wool Jersey album:

Purchased on eBay in November 2005 from the original owner. Original Pearl White. 60 cm Reynolds butted 531 5/10 tubing and forks, Simplex forged drop-outs, Nervex lugs. The only remaining original components were the front Simplex SJA 102 derailleur, Stronglight 106 42x52t chainset, Spidel (Mafac) LS2 sidepull brakes, Atax-Peugeot stem and 40 mm Philippe Franco-Italia handlebars.

As this same basic frame was offered as the CFX-10 frameset, the opportunity was taken to fit upgraded period correct all French components:

Rear derailleur: Spidel (Simplex) SLJ-5500T

Front deralleur: Spidel (Simplex) Super LJ front derailleur

Gear levers: Simplex SLJ retrofriction levers

Chainset: Stronglight 106 42t x 52t

Stem: Atax-Peugeot 110 cm

Handlebars: Philippe Franco-Italia 42 mm

Brakes: Spidel (Mafac) LS2 side-pull

Brake levers: NOS Spidel (Mafac) Course 2000 drilled

Seatpost: alloy Simplex

Saddle: Ideale 2002 saddle,

Pedals: NOS Spidel (Maillard) 700 alloy

Toeclips and straps: Christophe

Rims: NOS Super Champion 36-hole Record du Monde silver anodized

Hubs: NOS Spidel (Maillard) 700 Professional low-flange with Spidel (Simplex) skewers

Freewheel: NOS Spidel (Maillard) 700 13-19 t

Chain: Sedisport Sedicolor 4DC silver

Accessories: NOS Zefal SP4 frame pump, T/A alloy bottle cage and T/A Equipe Peugeot bottle.

Roadtesting to follow... but the guys in my bike shop swooned over her and said she was my "best bike yet". Mon dieu, c'est vrai? I'll have to find out..
