It's in the center of the photo. Block letters on the barrel read:
BAYLISS WILEY MADE IN ENGLAND FREEWHEEL
The oil hole cover has is marked: MADE IN ENGLAND also.
40 spoke holes, steel body, 120mm OLN. Cogs are 14, 17 and 19. It's similar to a modern-day cassette hub in that the freewheel pawls are contained within the hub body. Fancy wing nuts appear to be nickel- or chrome-plated bronze (non-magnetic).
I have the matching front hub and am wondering what sort of wheels to build with these. What sort of bike would have borne this hub, and what sort of derailer would have moved the chain? Any ideas of manufacturing date range?
