Something of a follow-up to that thread on the incredibly priced Raleigh Professional from last week:
Keeping a constant lookout for a possibility for that second bike/frame (no real rush at the moment, I'll start getting real serious after Daytona), I noticed a few interesting Raleighs appearing on eBay in the last couple of days - both frames and complete bikes. The usual seven-day sales with an opening bid of under a buck.
I tossed in a bid on an early 70's Super Course, included enough of a cushion that I figured would get it through the majority of the week. Within six hours it was trounced by someone with a "0" rating. I came back with a larger bid, let's see how serious this guy is. In less than a day it was beaten again, this time indicating that it's going to finish somewhere out of my budget.
Moved to my second choice frame - same result, another bidder with "0" feedback. Hmmn, I have a feeling that vintage Raleighs are going to be a bit expensive for the next couple of weeks. Time to sit back, monitor, and get off my butt and get those wheels built.
