I've got a Rigidex 30D rear derailleur that I'm trying to find the capacity of. This is the 5sp, 3/32" version.
Chuck's reprint of the '52 Simplex catalogue lists a 2/3sp Rigidex with a capacity of 20. Berto (pg 150, 2nd edition) gives a capacity of 37 for the Gran Tourisme (52/28 front with a 13-28 block) and calls the Rigidex a similar model, but isn't specific as to which Rigidex he's referring. List member Leonard Bulger was kind enough to mail me a copy of the parts sheet for the 30D, but this info isn't provided. Does anyone know the answer?
Same question, sort of, asked a different way. I want to pair the 30D with a Simplex twist rod front DR which can handle a 52/28 front setup. I've got a Stronglight 3-arm cottered crankset and the following choices of chainrings:
1. Stronglight 49/46 with the Simplex adapters 2. French Cyclo 52/46/36, which can also be set up as a 52/36 double.
In, house I've got two choices of freewheels, both Cyclos. One is a 14-22; the other a 13-28. Any thoughts to the combo most likely to work best? Can the front clanger shift the triple or is this really asking for trouble?
TIA.
