I install all tires in the fashion you describe,placing the
rim on the floor and applying pressure down .Where my technique differs
is when I get to the bottom I end up holding the tire/wheel against my
stomach(works better these days after losing 4" of waist)then rotating
the wheel up closer to my eyes so I can keep a close eye on the tire as
to not drag it thru the glue(at this point there should be enough slack
in your prestretched tire that it will just flop over)
All this discussion of sewups has given me the urge to try
some of those wheels I have been saving while using clinchers all this time.
I have a set of wheels that my DAD built me in the 60s that
have not seen the road in a long time,time to give them a try.
