A comment to Pete Geurds and Fredrick Yavorskys discussion:
I own two NOS C.Gran Sport cranksets with 150 mm crank length looking like the five-arm sets but with only three arms and 116 mm bcd. In fact looking like a aluminium successor to Fredericks. For these I own three chainwheels with 42, 38 and 36 teeth. I have also given my daughter a set with 170 mm cranks but otherwise the same sporting 45 and 36 teeth chainwheels. All these chainwheels have the 116 mm bcd and look like SR chainwheels, that is without the cut-outs.
BUT, I have also a few years ago traded similar cranks (170 mm) to a CR listmember that had the same kind of chainwheels as Fredericks bike, that is a big - 50t - with the smaller bcd (116 mm) and a smaller - but rather big, I don´t remember exact - attached to the big one. I don´t remember the bcd of that one, but looking at Fredericks one might wonder if it is the beginning of the 144 mm bcd?
So, both types of chainwheels existed.
