I glanced through the Copake auction on line catalog for this year and much to my disappointment there was only 1 road bike. It looks to be a 70s vintage Guerciotti but I don't know much more than that as there is not yet a write up. Here is the link.

It seems that this auction is getting weaker each year. I have been going for over 10 years now and I can remember when there were at least some road bikes and more bikes in general. It seems that over the last few years the auction has been more about statues, china and pipes. Since the downturn of the ballooners I see some real rare pieces that would have drawn big bucks some years ago but are now just regular fadder for auction. Shame, this has/had the potential to be a really good outlet for collectible bikes of all types.
Why do you think that road/race bikes are few and far between at Copake. Is it that the Cirque is so close in time and is the premier event. Do you think it is the enormous auction fee (almost 19%)or am I missing something. I know the swap is the day before and chances are better there for picking up some road stuff but the auction has become a tireing event. Oh and BTW, there will be no paper catalog this year and I have already heard complaints about that.
