Subject: [CR]Colnago Super Dating

The frame on ebay (as described by Thomas Reitz below) has brake cable braze-ons on the top tube, shifter bosses on the down tube, and newer style graphics on the head tube (Colnago club with championship stripes at a diagonal) and the fork has a club in the tang. The bike is attributed to 1975 or 1976.

So, based on an earlier thread I have Colnago dating in the early 70s as possibly like this: 1973, earlier....multiple lugs have clubs cutout; wreath graphics 1974 only lower head tube lug has club cutout; circles in fork tang, wreath graphics 1974 or 1975 only lower head tube lug has club cutout; clubs in fork tang; wreath graphics 1975 or 1976 brake cable braze-ons, shifter bosses and new graphics appear (Colnago club with championship stripes at a diagonal on head tube); club in fork tang

Hello Angel,

the person who is the first and only owner of this frame told me, he bought this bike in 1975 or 76. The shifting cable routes on top of bottom bracket, and the brake cable braze ons on top tube are also very early version.

There are spades in the fork tangs, look at this close up picture:

Thomas, are you certain your Colnago is a 1975? I ask only because I am trying to determine when certain changes occurred in the Supers.

And, what if anything is in the fork tang (circles, clubs, or nothing? ).

Thank you.
