Subject: [CR]Art Stump's party

Hi All ;
    I was just reading the memorial for H.E.Green when Peter Johnson called to inquire how Art's party went(Peter absolutely had to be in his machine shop to finish a job).Art Stump was 90 on December 16.His knees have put him in a wheelchair,so life is somewhat muted for him now.He likes having visitors,and has a lot to share in memory and knowledge.
    Well,Saturday,Feb.5,some friends,family,and CR mavens did make it over to Art's to appreciate his life and works.(Some names could be mis-spelled).From CR;Silas Lum,Craig Grffith,Tom Hillman,Allan Shaeffer(wife and five kids),Seth Finkelstein,and Steven Wright.Also son Bob Stump,caregiver Sylvia and her daughter Lisa.
    Silas had brought along his commissioned Stump bike with Stump enhanced parts on a high display stand.This bike is a favorite project of Art's,with ultra added details and the famous black chrome,well preserved.there were enough cameras present that I'm sure that the more digitally enabled will post pictures...
    Art has his personal black chrome bike at home,featuring his personal execution from scratch of stacked right-side derailleur levers(like Simplex or Huret in the mid fifties).
    We also perused the artifacts of Art's clock making,live steam model locos and antique auto pieces.Art's son Bob is a jeweler and woodworker,as is Silas a wood worker,so we all got to talk shop.
    I now leave the topic open for someone else's reportage...
      'til later,Seth Finkelstein,Santa Cruz,CA
