Further to Peter and Mick's comments on the subject of Dunlop tubulars at the time along with their Ultra Light 27" tyres I would'nt think of riding any other make either on road and track. Their comments certainly bring back memories of the 1950/60's , pressure gauge and all. I am reminded further with the Dunlop tubular puncture kit which is still in my workshop. The tin has a range of mending equipment from a roll of rubber patches , rubber solution ,needle and thread , tube french chalk powder and an abrasive piece of thin metal to smooth the tube prior to mending the puncture.
As for the popular Birmalux ,no sprints but I still ride a pair of their ordinary ,rims very much Weinmann look alike.
What about comments from members on other makers of the period whose consumable products disappeared into the sunset , it should make interesting reading !
