What about comments from members on other makers of the period whose consumable products disappeared into the sunset , it should make interesting reading !

Two that come readily to mine are Sturmey-Archer Cycle Oil (which finally passed into the sunset about a year ago, but I think can still be had in the UK as a Raleigh-branded product.. which is what it started as in the 1920s) and Brooks tyre irons. The latter were an evergreen in most cycle shops along with Velox bar plugs and bar tape and Cyclo cable clips. I love to go into a cycle shop today and ask the 19-year-old at the counter for this stuff: that bewildered, bemused look is priceless. They usually run off and ask the "old man" in the shop who is about 30 who says "yea, I remember my dad using that..."

I believe someone still makes the age-old Cyclo chain rivet-driver; if so, this has got to rank as one of the real oldtimers left.
