shining example is the early 70's Pog now running on ebay. I had wondered whether it would really fit me (for the 2k+ investment).

Skip,

I'm pretty certain the Pog won't fit. Don't bid. You'll only be wasting your time :)

The auction under discussion:

really lacks the detail shots you'd want to determine just how appealing this bike is. Does it have the diamond cutouts? Some didn't. the ones without the cutouts are perfectly nice, but maybe not quite as valuable as the ones with the cutouts. I love Pogis, but I like the ones with the diamonds more than the ones without. Track bikes excepted, mostly they appear not to have had cutouts.

Some Pogis have very crude lug-finishing. It's nice to know what you're getting there..I've seen some that were quite tidy, and some that were really clunky. You can't tell from these pictures where this one falls.

Note that the foil head-tube badge is crooked. This is either charming, or annoying, depending on your mood, or the time-of-day...<g> Typical of these bikes though. Those little things don't seem to have been all that important.

Are the graphics on the dt in good shape? I can't tell.

The wheels aren't original. No big deal, but detracts a little from the value, imho.

Looks like there'll be some toeclip overlap, typical with small frames though.

If you fear it'll be too tall for you, note the angle on those chainstays. In general, Pogliaghi's road bikes seem to have uniformly low bb shells...which contributes to the plushy ride. These bikes tend to ride quite nicely even if they're a little big for you.

I'd definitely get better detail shots before I bid on it. Thankfully, it's too small for moi. I think it's potentially very fine. What's it worth? I dunno. $2K seems a bit dear to me, esp. if there are no cutouts. But that's just me.

Speaking of Pogliaghis, here's a truly weird one:

A Pogliaghi with Nervex Pro lugs and bb shell? Very cool, if legit. But notice that the photos seem deliberately arranged to that you can't see anything important. Not the graphics, not any detail, not even the darned headbadge. Although you can see that peerlessly cool Nervex bb shell! I always wonder what the heck sellers are thinking when they post auctions like this. Looks like a very interesting bike...it'd be the first Pogi I ever saw or heard of with those Nervex lugs though...If someone here gets it, can we see some detail shots, pretty-please?

(doesn't it look more like an old Paramount? Anyway...if someone gets some details, I'd sure like to know more about it.)
