Gosh Nick,
For a second I was afraid you were going to spill the beans that I was hefting your bike to check the feather factor. I hope you never figure out how I made your SR seatpost slip!

I recently acquire an early 80s Sachs Signature frame and had it out for my second shakedown cruise last week. At the beginning of the ride, a friendly bike shop employee, complimented me & my latest rig and said how nice it was to see a lugged steel bicycle again. He first admired the classic workmanship on the frame and later commented on the Campagnolo Super Record gear. He then asked if he might lift the rig off the ground. His mood changed slightly, as if this litmus test was THE true judgement of quality in a bicycle. We shared a few more pleasantries, before I started off on my magic carpet ride, & left him to ponder the virtues of bicycle weight.
