So if an A-9 is 40 mm (Barnett's says 40.7) and a Chorus is 41.2 (Barnett again) perhaps a Chorus would be a good choice. Is the maximum 1-to-2 mm difference if I use a Chorus acceptable, or do I need a closer match to the original size? Clearly I can use a shorter headset with added spacers.

It's the same as the A-9 alloy version: 40mm.

An A-9 ought to work fine.
