Today was a wonderful Sunday for a ride with the LA/OC Vintage riders. Not quite picture perfect
but a well deserved respite from our relentless rains. The theme was Ron Cooper..I have a Ron
Cooper built Bates and a couple of Gillotts but could not unearth them due to home construction
and most all my bikes being safely packed away. A black Rene Herse Gentleman 5 speed was
selected. We had a pretty good turnout with at least a dozen riders.
I knew most but not all of the riders...Aaron Lipstadt was on a yellow Ron Cooper, Chuck Schmidt
on a black Colnago Super, Sean Smith on a modern Colnago, Scott Smith on a classic blue Gios
Torino, Charles Andrews and Carmen Tunis on the '69 (?) white Pogliaghi tandem, I was on the black
Rene Herse, Dave on a Pederson, Rick Rivas on a fixed gear, Cory on a (?)(brain fade), and 3 other
riders who were new to the ride I didn't catch the names of on a olde Mercian fixer, a Raleigh Pro and
a Raleigh Int'l with M-bars. Sorry if I left anybody off!
A grand time was had by all- we stopped for refreshments in Sierra Madre and than headed back.
I shot some pictures and have sent them off to Chuck to post..many while we were riding so I'm
glad I didn't find the back of any cars ;^)
