I have been trying to stay away from vintage road bikes as I have no more space for them. Yesterday, I was checking out the local Craigslist which had an ad for a Vitus (aluminium.) As I don't have a Vitus in my collection I checked the picture out. Rather fuzzy but appeared in good condition. From the picture it appeared it had Japanese components. I almost passed on it but something told me to go check it in person as it was selling for $175 and it was my size. Once I got the place where the bike lived, the seller rolled it out. Lo and behold, a nice Vitus with a complete Mavic SSC gruppo on it (minus the Dia-Compe brake levers) The rims have no marks on them, the pedals have no scratches on them and the chainrings are just a bit dirty.
I'm a happy guy. I always wanted admired Sean Kelly, now I have the same bike he used to ride back in the day. Now if I could only find some KAS decals.
