Instead of wetting it with water, I use Tannery Leather Spray made by CRC Industries. They stock it at my local Longs Drugs. Then I clamp the saddle by wrapping string around it, and leave it in the sun to dry. Chris Ioakimedes http://www.fattiretrading.com

If the leather hasn't been heavily oiled, just wet the wings a little and clamp it into position while it dries. If it has been oiled, you'll have to wet it considerably more.
