Chuck, I may have misunderstood, but to call him a "Poseur" is quite
harsh to say the least. People collect or own all sorts of things that
they don't "use" per se, but they like. For whatever reason.
I collect old track bikes. I don't race them any more and, given
the terrain were I live, I have no real opportunity to ride them. But I
love the way they look, I love working on them, and I love restoring
them. I am not insincere or affected because I collect them no more
than the person who collects antique colt revolvers is insincere if does
not actually shoot them, or the person who collects antique Chinese
porcelain plates but doesn't eat off them etc., etc., etc. Examples
are infinite Even more to the issue is what would be wrong about buying
a KOF bike and hanging it on your wall as art, or as a future
investment, or as a hedge against there not being any in the future.
Purpose is subjective.
