This is a point that I had considered, obviously, which is why I'd love some solid information about verifiable examples of unadulterated SR pedals with this type of finish. I may be barking up the wrong tree, but then again, the pieces may fall into place and then we will know something new about old SR production. It may be of no interest to most on the list, but it will interest some, and it does interest me.
As to how anyones time is best spent, I concur that in the day riding the stuff was my priority. Now its history, obsolete in my opinion, but a pleasure to collect and study.
