I live in a small house, but thankfully with a basement for the 'shop' and a garage for the really ugly stuff. I built a wall leaning two bike stand for the upstairs foyer, for a couple of the main riders. Another sits in a wheel stand, and one more leaning against the sofa back (which faces the foyer). This is a great arrangenment since I am single. I use wheel hooks in the basement rafters and store the restoration projects and occasional riders there. There is no danger of wheel damage from upsidedown hanging bikes. Hope to buy a new place soon, and a major criteria is shop and storage area. Not just a garage, 'cause I don't ask my bikes to sleep somewhere I wouldn't.
