I am with Mr. Kohler on this subject. It seems that people on this list all to often make blanket statements regarding racing bikes - like all of them are hand-built masterpieces (Note my "blanket statement" about the people on this list!). There seems to be a certain infatuation and bias towards "custom" built bicycles around here....
I have heard that sort of stuff before, and know that some of the bikes of the top riders were badged differently (and still are in some cases). However, I do not believe that "most" or even more than a few engaged in that practice. Being a racer myself, I know that the majority of the people I ride & race with don't give a hoot as to who makes their frame - most just use whatever is given to them or whatever is "cheap and works", and honestly have no preference. I do think that some would be finicky...but usually it is in regards to measurements, and not the equipment or maker of their frame.
Most pros (and amateur racers) beat the heck out of their bikes. The vast majority could not afford to be finicky about them.
Go ahead, prove me wrong!
