Subject: [CR]Insuring Bicycle Collections

I started insuring my bicycle collection this past year. Prior to this, I had assumed any loss would be covered as part of my normal home insurance. After talking to my insurance agent, I decided to add a rider to specifically address the bikes. I listed every bike with general statement of components and value. I didn't include serial number but have that for my personal records. The insurance coverage is 2.75 percent per year for the stated value of my collection. My agent told me that I should also take pictures, record serial numbers and keep bills of sale. But, his opinion was that since we listed them on the policy, they would be covered at the stated value. I have no idea whether I would have to get appraisals after-the-fact should there be a loss. Does anyone have experience with this? Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
