If you are looking at a modern chain and use the Scram P48 it will fit them all. The thickness of the cogs are the same just the distance between the cogs is thinner. Steven

Just about everyone who is an "authority" has a different view of what chains go with what cluster. Rivendell says one thing, Brown another, and Yellow jersey seems very certain of still another.
For what is currently available stock: 1) What chain goes best with 5 speed regular cluster? 2) What goes best with 6 speed regular indexed and non indexed? 3) What goes best with 6 speed narrow indexed and non indexed? 4) What goes best with 7 speed narrow indexed and non indexed ?
Is it true that some 126 mm spaced hubs take narrow and some take regular? How can I quickly tell by looking if it is a 6 narrow or a 6 regular, and do I need to know in order to buy a chain?
