I have a '72 P13 Racing Paramount and the workmanship is very nice. There is
probably a spike in the sales of Paramounts in '72 because of the wage price
freeze President Nixon put into effect that year. Because the final assembly
was in the U.S. Schwinn had to abide in keeping the price at $350, a $50
additional for Campy brakes. In contrast a Raleigh Pro jumped in price from
$350 to $450 that year. I was happy to buy my 25" P13, fully chrome plated,
and in stock at Mike Walden's Continental Bike shop. I have never ridden the
touring model but from what I have seen the main difference is longer
chainstays.
