Take a look at the bidding history - if either of the two top US bidders hadn't bid, the bike would have finished at about $3900. The Japanese collectors were out at $3850 IIRC. If either the winner or the #2 bidder is reading this, and you are willing to come forward, can you tell us if you were watching this bike before it was mentioned on this list? I have a hunch..... I was going to make the same observation. I've been amazed at some of the DeRosa prices lately, especially in that a still-produced marque with relatively high volume, at least in recent decades, commands higher prices than bikes which were rarer, even in the days of lower than current DeRosa production. Obviously I just don't get it. Someone sees something in these bikes that I simply don't.
