I echo those praises that have been heaped on this Parisian seller...he gets some excellent itms on Ebay and his prices are realistic.
However...and I do not intend in any way to criticise sceno234 ...the Helyett Speciale Tour de France is a bit of a puzzler.
It certainly isn't one of those Helyett Speciales that bore Jacques Anquetil's name on the top-tube, but I think mit is much more middle of the range, a demi-course model. What puzzles me really are the head-lugs..and I know that Helyett used to have their own variations on the Nervex Pro theme. But these lugs appear much "numb...er". I have tried to magnify the pictures to take a better look in the hope of proving that the cut-out in the head-lug is actually a letter "H".
However much I try I can only seem to make out a letter "M"...after the style of Motobecane. Or is it just "bike-frame-builders eye" that I'm suffering from?
On the Gallic tack...I notice that there is a 62cm Urago on Ebay - item No7164555007. complete with Nervex Pro lugs. This appears to be a later model from those classy 50s ones with the impeccable wrap-over seat stay eyes..but nevertheless it would look very pleasant respryed in its original livery.
A quick comment for Lou Deeter, the admirer of the Helyett headbadge... This particular badge is a pressed, flat aluminium one with the design printed on. As such it is quite unusual but the problem is that the printing fades badly. Better still is the pre-WW11 badge - same design but embossed brass with the "fields" filed in with rich enamels.
