I have the Shimano 600 aero stem. It's the kind with the single allen cap bolt that you remove and then you can get a long reach allen and adjust the wedge that holds the stem in, and the wedge that holds the bars in, from the same access hole. It's a neat arrangement and I don't even know when the model HS-6400 came out, but it has a creaking sound that I relate to the wedge that holds the stem into the steering tube. The sound only starts when a ride begins. The stem is greased, so I don't know what else to do. Also the stem is well into the fork, well past the minimum mark, and yet it still creaks a bit. Is there a solution here I haven't thought of?

Garth Libre in Miami Fl. It is likely that the bar that is creaking where it attaches to the stem. Make sure that connection is tight, but some "aero" designs just creak sometimes..... Greg Parker Ann Arbor, Michigan a Bike-Friendly city now (officially)
