As a big 170 pounder - and something of a climbing specialist, I found the Medaille d'Or rims fine, for a front wheel. NO probs ever, even when decending like a stone. The wheel I had built for my 76 Sachs in 1978 is still on the bike!
As a corpulent 200 pounder today though, I am debating replacing that wheel when the Sachs goes back into service. Wheels may be consumables, but no point in consuming one as a result of false economy, or vanity.

I used them back in the mid 1970s. I bent the one on the rear of my bike every couple of months. After going through a few of them I replaced the one on the back with an Arc En Ciel (330g compared to 260g for the Médaille D'Or) and never had any more problems with bending rims. I kept the Médaille D'Or on the front (I weighed mid 170s).
