Kurt, here's the Timeline entry (www.velo-retro.com):

======================================================================================= 1971 Catalog #16 Supplement is printed in November for the year-end trade shows. Included are the Superleggero pedals (black anodized aluminum cages), Superleggero seat post (no fluting, thinner wall, aluminum support cradle, drilled pivot, originally with engraved graduated scale), and plastic Superleggeri pumphead are introduced. Also the patented toothed washer (rondella dentata) for the Record sidepull brakes, along with the steel Gran Turismo rear derailleur, Velox low-cost derailleur, Elefante control lever, the steel three-pin Sport cotterless crankset, Sport headset (only two wrench flats) and Allen seatbinder bolt. =======================================================================================

My '74 Raleigh Pro Mk. IV came with one which I kept when I sold the bike in 1978. It now graces my early '70s Brian Baylis Wizard #16 with all the light weight stuff of the period. I put a Ideale 90 CR Rebour saddle on the Superleggero seatpost by using Art Stump machined alloy cradle parts. Very kewl!!!
