Yesterday I got in a very nice ride on my Richard Sachs.
This morning Cindy and I got out to a local Farmer's Market. I no sooner
walked in than a vendor offered me a sample of something new she had. A hot
miniature dill pickle. She reached in a jar with a fork and slyly handed
me one. I took it with my thumb and forefinger and popped it into my mouth.
I noted her grinning evilly. Even though I am used to hot foods It took my
breath away. This was major hot, like a Habanero, or something. I suffered
all the way through the market and on the drive home forgot and foolishly
rubbed my eye. The pain was instant and overpowering. The pepper stuff
from my finger was causing me to not only be unable to open that eye, but
seemed to come in waves that would cause the other eye to lock shut, too. I
managed to pull into a parking lot and tell Cindy she'd have to drive. I
looked down and there in the coffee cup holder of my console was a half full
water bottle from yesterday's ride. I got out and irrigated the eye with
the fresh water and it felt lots better right away. More water and it was
nearly back to normal.
Perhaps it was just luck, but that Richard Sachs water bottle was one that
Richard had generously given me a while back. Once again, Richard's
generosity made the day for me! Nice to have a buddy like that.
