Tom makes good points here. I mean we all have our criteria for the perf ect bike be it the ride, the heritage, the craftsmanship and the mojo. I wou ld suggest that few of us have found THE perfect bike that combines all of th e above or wed have a real problem explaining why we own scores of differ ent bikes. As I said, my perfect bike happens to be the one I just finished riding. And to the shock of the Italophiles here, Id have to nominate my 73 Cinelli SC as having perhaps the best combination of looks, build quality and ride. Shes just as very satisfying machine on many levels even if she lacks the race winning heritage of a Team Pro or the gritty charm o f a PX-10. Fast enough to race but too pretty to? Maybe. Tellingly, t he Cinelli fell exactly between the Peugeot and Raleigh in original price ($240/550/950) and thats says a lot. But would I chuck in all my othe r bikes and just keep my Cinelli? No way! I wouldnt give up my PX-10 fo r any bike out there. The search for perfection continues and the collection grows apace.
