Ebay item #7171251234

I remember seeing a similar Ex-Hinault bike complete with profiled SR parts (crankarms, calipers, aero levers) at the Bicycle Pro Shop in Georgetown. Mel Pinto was the U.S. Importer for Gitane, and the bike was on display as a promotion. Shortly thereafter, a "production" bike like this was on display. Later, a friend who worked for Mel gave me a Castelli poster showing Hinault on what was probably the exact bike that had come into the shop.

The bike on offer is long on exotic character, and is from the earliest days of the aero craze. I think it's pretty cool that the bike is mostly EX, which worked very well, rather than AX, which had a pretty bad rep at the time it came out. Makes it more real-deal, IMHO. It looks like this bike may even have the narrow Mavic front hub, just like Bernie's did.

No relation to seller, though obviously it's Ken.

Wish it was my size.
