Ferruled valve stem holes are 50's and 60's manufacture, though I've found stashes of 32 and 36 hole rims even as recent as last year that were ferruled and had the old oval decal. The age discriminator for early rims (in addition to the ferrule) is that rims through the early 60's also had the term "Brevettato Longhi" stamped into the rim along with "Fiamme Italy." Sometime in the 60's the "Brevetto Longhi" was dropped, sometime after that the ferrule on the valve stem hole was lost, then in the early-ish mid 70's the decal went rectangular. Last year there was an e-bay merchant in south america with a large stash of 32 and 40 hole fiammes, all the 32 hole were ferruled, none of the 40 hole were. Unfortunately, their stash is now depleted. But I know where theres a few 32/40 hole sets in Colorado and California...

After 10 minutes in the archives all I could find was info about rim weights and decal info. I admit I have a short attention span, and no doubt some of you long time list members are groaning about a much hashed over subject, but humor me. Thanks.
